Academics partner with BRE to forecast Wales’s future carbon emissions Scientists from Cardiff University are developing a tool to forecast Wales’s greenhouse gas emissions over the next 30 years.   Together with world-leading multi-disciplinary building science centre, BRE, the academics are developing the tool on behalf of Welsh Government, who will use it to inform the setting of appropriate targets and carbon budgets for the entire country and quantify policies

BRE Global has signed a mutual recognition agreement with the German based Institute of the Built Environment (IBU), an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) scheme operator with customers across Europe. The agreement was announced at architects trade fair BAU2017 in Munich. It means that companies who have BRE verified EPD and are listed on http://www.greenbooklive.com can also be registered on IBU’s approved listing and vice versa*. BRE CEN Heatpumps KEYMARK

The European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) has licenced BRE Global as a certification body for the KEYMARK, a voluntary, independent, European certification mark for all heat pumps, combination heat pumps and hot water heaters. KEYMARK certification is based on independent testing and compliance with the requirements of the scheme’s rules. Manufacturers who submit their products must also comply with the EU’s Ecodesign regulation* for reducing environmental impacts through design. BRE

BRE Healthy Research Building

BRE has announced a new project that will test the effects of biophilic design on office occupants.   The Healthy Research Building will be the UK’s first live research workspace that measures the real-world health and well-being benefits of incorporating nature into a building’s design. The project will see BRE refurbish an existing office building at its headquarters in Watford to create a fully operational office that will enable occupants to be monitored
